Red Wine & Garlic Yoghurt Cheese Potato Salad Red Wine & Garlic Yoghurt Cheese Potato Salad, for that braai you are having. We’ve taken a classic outdoor cooking staple—the potato salad—and given it a gourmet upgrade. While the original recipe used a standard dressing, we’ve swapped it out for our signature Red Wine & Garlic Yoghurt Cheese to create a side dish that is creamy, punchy, and utterly addictive. Why Our Yoghurt Cheese? It’s important to note: this isn’t Labneh. While Labneh is a delicious Middle Eastern staple, our Yoghurt Cheese is hand-strained for over 24 hours to achieve a specific velvety, dense consistency that holds its shape and melts into warm dishes without breaking. It’s richer, firmer, and provides a probiotic-rich base that catches you off guard when the sharp but satisfying sour taste of the yoghurt cheese hits your taste buds. Recipe: Garlic & Chilli Roasted Potato Salad Serves: 6 | Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 30 mins Ingredients: 800g Baby potatoes, halved 1 Jar Red Wine & Garlic 3 tbsp of the chilli-infused oil from the jar 1 tsp Smoked paprika Salt and freshly cracked black pepper 1/2 Red onion, finely diced Handful of fresh parsley or chives, chopped Optional: Crispy biltong shavings (to pair with the smoke) Method: Roast the Potatoes: Preheat your oven (or air fryer) to 200°C. Toss the halved baby potatoes in the Red Wine & Garlic oil from your Yoghurt Cheese jar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Roast until the skins are crispy and golden (about 25–30 minutes). Prepare the “Dressing”: While the potatoes are hot, take 4–5 Red Wine & Garlic Yoghurt Cheese balls and crush them lightly in a bowl. Because our cheese is hand-strained and dense, it creates a thick, luxurious “dollop” rather than a runny liquid. The Great Melt: Toss the hot potatoes directly into the bowl with the cheese. The residual heat will cause the yoghurt cheese to soften and coat the potatoes in a creamy, garlicky glaze. The Finish: Fold in the red onion and fresh herbs. The garlic and chilli flakes from the jar provide all the seasoning you need. Serve: This is best served warm or at room temperature alongside a perfectly grilled rump or sirloin. The natural acidity of the yoghurt cheese cuts through the starch of the potato, while the garlic adds a deep, savoury richness. By using the infused oil from the jar, you’re ensuring that every bite is packed with the same high-end flavour. Have you tried this before? Follow the link to get a jar. Perfect for everything from a laid-back Sunday braai to an elegant evening celebration, yoghurt cheese is the ultimate “secret ingredient” for your grazing boards. These velvety, hand-strained balls are as versatile as they are delicious, offering a creamy, probiotic-rich base that pairs perfectly with both sweet and savoury snacks. Here is how to use the unique flavours from the Yoghurt Cheese Shop to create show-stopping platters and quick snacks. 1. The Ultimate Savoury Platter For a Mediterranean-inspired mezze board, focus on bold, umami-rich flavours. Use Garlic & Chilli and Biltong yoghurt cheese balls. Surround the cheese with marinated olives, Sun-Dried Tomatoes in Port Vinaigrette, and sliced sourdough or fresh baguette. Skewering a Garlic & Chilli cheese ball with a green olive and a cube of cheddar for a quick, punchy appetiser. 2. Sweet & Sophisticated Dessert Boards Yoghurt cheese isn’t just for savoury dishes; its natural tang makes it an incredible companion for sweet treats. Feature the decadent Choc-Yo (infused with dark chocolate) or the Brandy & Cola flavours. Serve alongside fresh seasonal berries, toasted nuts, and crisp wafers. Top a small piece of fruit cake or a digestive biscuit with an Amarula yoghurt cheese ball for a rich, bite-sized dessert. 3. Quick & Easy “Pantry” Snacks When you need a quick flavour fix without the effort of a full platter, these jars are your best friend. Mixed Herbs or Sweet Chilli. Spread a cheese ball onto a cracker and top with a sun-dried tomato and a tiny dollop of pesto, as seen in the reference photos. Don’t waste the oil! Drizzle the herb- or chilli-infused oil from the jar over the entire snack for an extra layer of flavour. Why It Works: Texture: The slow-strained, velvety texture provides a sophisticated mouthfeel that elevates simple crackers or bread. Dietary Friendly: All these options are naturally gluten-free, making them a safe and inclusive choice for guests. Zero Effort: Because the cheese is already marinated in premium oils and spices, you get “restaurant-quality” flavour with almost zero preparation. Ready to build your next board? Stuff with cheese Take 2–3 cheese balls from the Garlic & Chilli jar and stuff them generously into each steak pocket. Press the opening closed with your fingers or secure with a toothpick if needed. Season & oil Rub the steaks with the chilli oil from the jar, crushed garlic (if using), salt, and plenty of black pepper. Tuck a small sprig of rosemary or thyme on top of each steak. Braai time Preheat your braai to medium-high heat. Grill the steaks for 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until cooked to your liking.
